A transition management assignment is judged on measurable results, not intentions. Before day one on site, the manager and internal sponsor should agree on 3 to 5 concrete indicators: service rate, a production milestone, restructuring plan progress, or stabilisation of a key team.
Why indicators must be set during the brief
A vague scope at the start is the leading cause of disagreement at the final review. Indicators should be written, dated and shared with management before the assignment starts.
- An operational indicator (production, quality, supply chain)
- A management indicator (turnover, team climate)
- A governance indicator (reporting, decisions arbitrated)
